I’m Wesley-Anne Rodrigues. Brand Strategist/marketeer by profession. Growing up in a culturally and spiritually rich motherland like India automatically meant embracing a plethora of beliefs, and understanding everyone’s sentiments inorder to live harmoniously – it required one to constantly swap view finders and be ever adaptive.
I saw this insightful video on TED by novelist Chimamanda Adichie about the danger of the Single Story. It was about how very often, we are exposed to just one side of a story – whether it’s about a culture, country, people or life in general. We form biases and opinions with the limited information we have. None of these single stories are ever completely wrong – they are all right from the viewer’s standpoint; but they’re not the complete picture. Beyondthemaple is my endeavour to dig deeper, to prod into the ‘what ifs’ in trying to look at cultures, brands and the way people behave, beyond pre-conceived stereotypes.
